No, Doris 5m is not a modern regatta dinghy. It is more a versatile touring dinghy with classic origin. It sails very well even with little wind and in case of stronger wind conditions the sail area can be easily adapted by the two reefs. Under coastal conditions you can feel the true origin of the boat, the rough Newfoundland banks. Despite its small size, it sails surprisingly dry and feels really good in the waves.

You will hardly find a boat that makes landing on sandy beaches more straightforward. If you forget the centerboard below the simple elastic locking prevents damage and due to the design, you don't have to worry about the rudder blade at all.
